On January 6th, Bandera Electric Co-op representative Debbie Corley presented a check for nearly $24,000 to Uvalde County to fund Keep Utopia Beautiful. This Lower Colorado River Authority Community Development Partnership Grant is awarded to support and expand services offered at Utopia Recycles. On hand for this important event was BEC District 5 Director, Roger C. Swift, BEC Board Secretary/Treasurer who is also a major supporter and volunteer for recycling efforts in Utopia. Uvalde County Judge Bill Mitchell, Pct. 3 Commissioner Jerry Bates and KUB Chairperson Claudia Rogers accepted the check. KUB Board members and some of the wonderful Utopia Recycles Volunteers were present to celebrate this exciting award.
The LCRA Grant will enable Keep Utopia Beautiful to add a second building at Utopia Recycles and to increase recycling capacity and services for Utopia and its neighboring communities and rural areas. Keep an eye on our progress!
KUB has started a fund to purchase a greatly needed second baler for Utopia Recycles. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to assist with this fundraising campaign.
